How do I get Started?
Just contact me and we'll set up a time to meet and go from there.
Where do you take the dogs and for how long?
We only frequent legal off leash parks. Cherry Beach is our favorite but we may also visit Monarch, Riverdale, Withrow , Brickworks and Kew Beach. We focus on parks that allow us to play, hike and or cool off with an afternoon summer swim.
Walks are scheduled for an hour, time starts at the park. If the weather is severe I will adjust the times accordingly. Your dog's comfort and safety is my first priority.
How many dogs do you take per walk?
I take no more than six clients at a time. All walks are group off leash so an excellent recall and good temperament are crucial.
I've seen some dog walkers with out of control dogs. How do you manage so many dogs?
First of all you will never see me pull up with a noisy vehicle and then have my dogs pile out the back and race around the parking lot like a bunch of lunatics!
My dogs are trained to be calm and quiet while in the car. Booboo (my dog) makes sure things are orderly in the back of the car as well. They are always walked to and from their ride on leash. Once we are well into the park they must sit before being let off. This insures that they are calm (and usually all poop in close proximity). All my dogs are trained to come when I blow a referee whistle I keep around my neck. This is handy when they are out of sight or someone is playing too rough.
Your dogs run free not wild.
Do you smoke in the car with the dogs?
No, yuck! I don't smoke at all.
Will my dog get dirty?
If your dog likes to get dirty then YES. I will do my best to clean/dry them off. I encourage clients to leave a towel by the door. Keep in mind certain long and curly coats hold the dirt and sand and it falls out over time. I'd be happy to secure them in a crate or other designated area at these times. We share our lives with dogs, I think the trade off is worth it!

What if my dog isn't good off leash?
Then I'm not the walker for you but I'd be more than willing to help you find a reputable walker that can accommodate your needs. On occasion I will do private walks. We can discuss availability.
What if my dog doesn't fit in with it's group?
Sometimes personality or energy levels don't mix. When I first meet your pup I'll have an idea of the best situation for them. Of course I'll try to give you the time you'd prefer but ultimately it's all about your what's best for your dog.
We'll sort it out.
Do you do training?
I train my dogs to do what's needed for a happy, safe and fun walk. I use clicker training with new and younger dogs. I'd be happy to give you some pointers on basic training. If you have bigger issues I can refer you to a professional. If you sign up for a training class and your instructor agrees I will take the class with you on my own time. That way we'll all be on the same page.
I have crazy hours can we work something out?
We can discuss your needs when we first get together. As long as I have reasonable notice and availability I'm sure we can make it work.
What if I have to cancel my walk?
I get that stuff happens. As long as you let me know before 9:00 am I can make adjustments. If I come to pick up your dog and you cancel or it's not there you WILL be charged for that walk.
What happens if you go on holiday?
I take off all stat holidays and the time between Christmas and New Year. If I do go away for a week or so you will be given ample notice. You can decide to go with your own plans or I can do my best to set you up with another walker for that time.
Does my dog need to be licensed with the City?
I would suggest you do. It's pretty cheap $60 for an unaltered pet and $25 for a neutered one. The revenue collected goes to help fund animal related needs like dog parks, care of shelter pets etc.
I also put a Kelly's Dog Walking tag on my dogs just in case they get separated from our pack.I encourage you micro chip and have a personal tag with your contact info on it as well. Most people will call the owner before Animal Services if they find a lost dog.
What if my dog gets injured?
I'm certified in basic animal first aid. Obviously if it's an emergency we'll go to the closest veterinary clinic and you'll be notified that we are on our way.
What are my payment options?
Payment is due the last walk day of the week. I accept cash, cheque or e-transfer.
I hope I've answered most of your questions. Please contact me if you have any further inquiries.
I pride myself on providing a premiere service. Your pets are individuals and I respect that.
Your pets will be well taken care of, amused and loved.
That is my promise to you.
